Amy Carman Design / Residential

Summit Avenue

Asked to “brighten it up, lighten it up,” the Amy Carman Design team looked for ways to update this old Milwaukee home while still emphasizing its unique architecture and style. The kitchen and dining room, placed at the rear of the home, were especially dark. Combining the two spaces, while adding new leaded glass windows, provided light and an open feel while still feeling architecturally authentic. In the expanded kitchen, the combination of navy cabinetry, white quartzite countertops, and brass hardware feels fresh, open, and classic. A new mudroom adds family-friendly storage and function to the home, and updates to the entry, stairway, powder room, and upstairs nursery complete this home’s transformation.
