This vacation home in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, was renovated for a family with deep ties to the area. Passionate racing enthusiasts and car collectors, they have been visiting the famed Road America raceway for generations. Looking to put down permanent roots, they invested in a home that is walking distance from Elkhart Lake’s beach and vibrant downtown. The design team embarked on an ambitious renovation, gutting the home from top to bottom. The expanded kitchen features a Lacanche range, a generous island with seating for four, and suede finished quartzite countertops. The lower level is dedicated to the client’s love of racing, with a new library bar designed to show off generations of racing memorabilia and collectibles. When it came to furnishing the home, the design team opted for a warm palette, with layered textiles and soft fabrics, to create a down-to- earth, approachable interior the entire family could enjoy.
