This elegant kitchen renovation was designed for our client’s city residence to create an open, airy, and sophisticated space centered around cooking, entertaining, and hosting events. A successful businesswoman and recent empty nester, our client requested that her space have a city attitude with a feminine touch.
The design team introduced a stunning slab of Lilac marble for a full height backsplash. The polished stone, with deep raisin-toned veining, became the centerpiece of the kitchen. Suspended custom brass shelving added another luxurious layer to the statement wall. The team then provided ample storage behind a repeating series of white oak armoire doors. While these cabinets appear similar on the surface, they vary in depth and purpose, solving a number of layout challenges inherent to the kitchen. They hide a large structural column and provide an ingenious secret entrance to a laundry room and pantry. The kitchen’s lovely accompanying cocktail bar, clad in tambour with smoked Lucite handles, features a gorgeous plum-toned French mural wallcovering, providing a moody counterpoint to the bright, airy kitchen.
